INFLUENCE OF CLIMATIC CONDITIONS OF HIGH MOUNTAINS ON THE RESISTANCE OF POTATOES TO VIRAL DISEASES

Abstract

The potato plant is susceptible to a number of viral, fungal and bacterial diseases. Viral diseases prevalence depends on soil and air temperature and humidity, the presence of plantings of solanaceous crops and on virus vectors. The present article addresses the results of studies on the influence of soil and climatic conditions of the high-mountainous province of Dagestan on the spread of viral diseases and lesions in potato farms. The possibilities of using favorable soil and climatic conditions of high mountains for organizing primary seed production on a virus-free basis, as well as of choosing an economically profitable scheme for growing super-super elite and elite potatoes, are considered. When using a six-year scheme for growing the elite, the seed material retains its qualities, and its gross amount increases by 6.0 - 7.3 times.
