Abstract


Popularization of knowledge about soil is becoming increasingly topical because of growing degradation of soils, which poses threat to food and environmental safety. The present paper praises V.V. Dokuchayev Central Museum of Soil Science (Saint Petersburg, Russia) as the first-ever scientific agency to be dedicated to soil science and addresses different approaches to and forms of popularization of information about soils among lay public.
